Customers are encouraged to call their local utility board or commission if they are unable to resolve their issue with Duke Energy. These state agencies often provide consumer advocates who can advocate for consumers to help resolve disputes with public utilities. In addition, state agencies often have a complaint process where consumers can file complaints against a utility company if they are unable to resolve their dispute through the Duke Energy customer service department.
In addition to the phone number and website, Duke Energy also offers a mobile app that allows customers to manage their accounts and submit requests for assistance. These apps are available for iOS and Android devices. The company’s customer service team is staffed with trained professionals who are available to assist you. The call center is open from 7 am to 7 pm Eastern Time.
CHARLOTTE, NC –
Duke Energy is warning its North Carolina and South Carolina customers to beware of a new bill payment scam. The scam involves a fraudulent individual calling a customer and falsely claiming to be a Duke Energy representative. The individual will then warn the customer that their power will be disconnected unless they make an immediate payment. The fraudulent individual will ask the customer to purchase a prepaid debit card that can be used at most retail stores. Then, they will instruct the customer to call them back with the receipt and PIN number to supposedly make a payment. The victim of this scam can be out hundreds or even thousands of dollars. Fortunately, this is an avoidable problem. Duke Energy will never request a customer to purchase a prepaid debit card to avoid losing their power.
